Lansdowne Lodge No. 711
On July 4th, 1776, The Second Continental Congress of what then after would be known as The United States of America adopted what is now known as the Declaration of Independence.It was not perfect, nor were any of the men who voted to adopt it. It made no guarantees as to how long this American experiment would last, nor that its citizens would see eye-to-eye on every policy thenceforth discussed in the chambers and vestibules of its institutions. It promised only that, come what may, from that day forward we would cast our lots together as what would become known as Americans. Some days our passions may get the best of us and we may not show fellow citizens their proper respect. Some days we may fail to comprehend a particular state of affairs or how others can hold a paradigm differing from our own. Some days we smile together and other days alone.
